Critical Path.

Fitting samples throughout the critical path is an important information decision making session. The sample must be checked over with a "fine tooth comb" to ensure you are happy with the results provided by the CMT maker or factory.

Understanding the Critical Path

Your Production Planning Foundation

The Critical Path is your essential production planning tool, detailing garment specifications, fabrics, colours, sizes, bulk quantities, CMT makers, testing requirements, and a series of cut-off dates from production start to completion.

Key components include:

  • Comprehensive product specifications
  • Detailed timeline management and
  • Clear communication protocols with makers.

Setting Up the Critical Path

The design and production team establishes the critical path before production begins, documenting all garment and product specifications. Production teams and garment technologists then request regular updates from CMT makers to ensure alignment throughout the process.

Monitoring Updates and Delays

CMT makers and factories must actively monitor critical path dates and immediately communicate any potential delivery delays to all stakeholders.

All samples, lab dips, fabrics, and components require brand and customer approval before proceeding. This approval process is essential for maintaining quality standards and meeting customer expectations throughout production.

Upon arrival at the brand office, items are inspected by production teams and garment technologists within one working day. Approved items are then sent to brand customers via overnight courier when required for urgent review.

Managing Approvals and Fit Sessions

Brand customers schedule specific fit days and times, meaning samples may not receive immediate attention. Buying teams often attend supplier meetings and internal sessions, which can affect approval turnaround times for accessories and lab dips.
